Weekday care for the dog who would otherwise spend the day alone. Grass runs, other dogs to meet, and a tired dog at collection. 553 R631 Boschkop, Mooiplaats.
Weekday daycare at Delenitor
Most dogs sleep the morning away and then go looking for something to do. By early afternoon the cushions, the bin and the garden beds are all fair game. Daycare gives your dog somewhere to be a dog while you are at the office.
Delenitor Animal Lodge runs dog daycare on weekdays at 553 R631 Boschkop, Mooiplaats, Pretoria East. You drop your dog off on your way to work and collect a dog that has spent the day outside on grass, with other dogs and with people around. It is the same lodge as our overnight boarding kennels — the same brick kennels, the same enclosed grass runs, the same team.
We deliberately keep the number of dogs low. A quiet run is a run where a shy dog can settle, an old dog can nap in the shade, and a young dog can work off the energy that would otherwise go into your irrigation pipes.
Weekdays are the quietest part of the week here. School holidays and long weekends fill the kennels, so a midweek daycare day is the easy one to fit in — and the best value for a dog who spends every working day on their own.

What your dog gets
Daycare is not a spare pen behind the office. Your dog uses the same kennels and the same grass runs as our overnight guests.
Dogs learn to read each other by being near each other. Daycare gives your dog a regular group to greet, to share a fence line with and to settle down beside — the everyday socialising a garden on its own cannot provide.
Every kennel has access to an enclosed grass run. Your dog is on grass, not concrete, with shelter and fresh water in the run. It is the sort of surface a dog can dig at, roll on and lie flat out on.
The kennels are brick-walled, with shelter and fresh water in the run. It is the same structure your dog would use for an overnight stay, so a daycare dog already knows the place if you ever need to board them.
Small, medium and large. We are a lodge on a smallholding, not a small-breeds-only daycare run out of somebody's home. Big dogs, mixed breeds and dogs the neighbours are unsure about are all welcome here.
The team is on the property around the clock. Somebody is here in the middle of the day as well as at drop-off and collection, so a dog is never left to work out a strange day alone.
Drop off from 07:00 and collect by 18:00, Monday to Friday. The lodge itself is open Saturday 07:00 to 17:00 and Sunday 08:00 to 16:00, and public holidays by arrangement — phone ahead if you need one of those days.
The shape of the day
No two days are identical, because no two dogs are. The rhythm, though, is the same every weekday.
You arrive from 07:00, hand over your dog's food and anything that helps them settle, and head for work. Keep the goodbye short. A long, emotional goodbye at the gate tells your dog there is something to worry about.
Your dog is out in the run and in and out of the sheltered kennel, with water available and other dogs nearby. Some dogs play hard all morning and sleep the afternoon away. Others patrol the fence line and supervise everything that moves. Both are normal. If your dog needs a meal during the day, send it along — owners supply all food, and we do not provide it.
You collect before 18:00. Expect a dog who is pleased to see you and then falls asleep in the car. A dog who sleeps through the evening is usually a dog who had a proper day.
All shapes, all sizes
Plenty of daycare in Pretoria East is small-breeds-only and run from a home. That suits a Maltese. It does not suit a Boerboel, a Labrador with a full day of energy, or a rescue who has never been left with anyone outside the family. Delenitor is a lodge on a smallholding on the R631, with brick kennels built for real dogs of every size.
Kennel sharing is matched to the dog rather than squeezed into one number: up to four small dogs to a kennel, up to three medium dogs, and two large dogs. If you have two dogs who would rather stay together, say so when you book.
We are not the right daycare for every dog, and it is better to find that out on the phone than after a bad morning. Dogs need to be healthy and their vaccinations current before they check in.
Daycare rates
Daycare is priced per dog, and the rate depends on your dog and how many days a week you need. We would rather quote you properly than publish a number that does not fit.
Daycare rates depend on your dog and how many days a week you need — call Michal on 071 671 5323 for a quote.
These are the overnight boarding rates, not the daycare rate. Boarding is paid by EFT, and the funds must reflect before the booking is confirmed.
The first day
Worrying about the first day is reasonable. A dog who has only ever known your house and your garden is being asked to trust a new place for a whole day. There are a few things you can do to make that morning easier.
Tell Michal your dog's age, breed and size, and how they are with other dogs. If your dog has never been left with anyone outside the family, say that on the phone. Ask how the first morning will work, and what happens if your dog is unsure of the others.
Walk your dog to the run, hand over the lead, and go. A long goodbye at the gate is harder on the dog than on you. Send their own blanket or bed if that is what they settle on at home — owners supply bedding, and we do not.
Some dogs go quiet. Some bark at the fence. Some try to follow you out of the gate. Tell the team what is normal for your dog, so that a change is noticed. If you are worried during the day, phone 071 671 5323 and ask how it is going.
A first day is not always a good day. A kennel and a grass run to retreat to when the day gets too much helps a lot, but some dogs still find a shared day hard. Ask for an honest report at collection, and give it more than one visit before you decide.
Vaccinations come first. Proof of current rabies, bordetella and parvo vaccinations is required before any dog checks in. No vaccination card, no check-in.
A form is a request, not a booking. Daycare and boarding are paid by EFT only. The funds must reflect in the Delenitor account before a booking is confirmed, and Michal confirms once the payment has reflected. A submitted booking form does not hold a place on its own.
You supply the food. Send your dog's own food, medication, toys and bedding for the day. Delenitor does not provide food, medication, toys or bedding.

The same place and the same runs. Daycare dogs use the same brick-walled kennels and enclosed grass runs as our overnight guests, which is why a daycare dog settles quickly if you later book a stay. Boarding is R250 per kennel per day, or R220 per day from day 10.
Proof of current rabies, bordetella (kennel cough) and parvo vaccinations is required before check-in. Bring the card on the first morning. Dogs must also be free of fleas, ticks, worms and parasites.
Yes. All sizes and all breeds. Small dogs can share up to four to a kennel, medium dogs up to three, and large dogs two. If your dog is more comfortable on their own, tell us when you book.
Phone Michal before you book and tell her how your dog behaves around other dogs. On the day, keep the goodbye short and mention anything that is normal for your dog. Every dog has a kennel and grass run to retreat to, and you are welcome to phone during the day and ask how it is going.
